It's been a blessing to see Warren Czapa's work start out from its already-fruitful initial forays to this burgeoning: as if the spirit of each of The Objectivists have been fused, then relocated, to our contemporary conditions; as deconstructed Torah-studies, additions in its margins; a new, tough-edged, yet finely-wrought lyricism that plays hard on the surface and through which we still glimpse beauty, ugliness [art and aesthetics!] and unspeakable realities. In fact, here are fresh ways these can be spoken.
It's like nothing much else around at the moment. It should be read.

Warren Czapa's Event Horizons seduce in their tautness, precision and desolation. At times formally reminiscent of the Oulipian—think Frédéric Forte's Minute-Operas—at other times it feels like being immersed in the work of an abstract impressionist painter.
These poems are forensic and surgical in their application of found text and citations, comfortable in their business attire, a murder of crows on a mortuary table shrouded in ambient darkness.
Czapa's Event Horizons proves that signals from the most stygian atmospheres are possible after all.
